Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, and while Rockstar has yet to announce a specific release date, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has reassured fans that the game is still set to launch in Fall 2025—with no signs of a delay.
With major AAA titles frequently facing delays, many players were skeptical about GTA 6 meeting its release window. However, Zelnick appears confident in the timeline. Speaking to Variety, he stated:
“We’ve announced a pretty narrow window. So I think our view is that right now, that’s fine. And then when it’s appropriate, of course, Rockstar is going to have more to say.”
Could Take-Two's Busy Schedule Impact GTA 6?
Take-Two has a packed release schedule for 2025, including Borderlands 4, Mafia: The Old Country, and GTA 6 itself. Some question whether launching multiple big titles around the same time is a smart move.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Mafia: The Old Country delayed to avoid clashing with GTA 6, as both games target a similar audience. With GTA 5 selling over 200 million copies, Take-Two will likely want to maximize GTA 6’s sales without internal competition.
Will GTA 6 Stay on Schedule?
While game delays have become the norm, Rockstar has had over a decade to develop GTA 6. Given their history of ensuring top-tier quality, fans can remain cautiously optimistic that GTA 6 will arrive on time.
Expect an official release date announcement later this year as Fall 2025 approaches. Stay tuned for updates!
